The Irlen Method®
The Irlen Method uses coloured overlays and filters to improve the brain’s ability to process visual information.
The cornerstone of the Irlen Method is precision-tinted coloured overlays and filters. This technology can improve reading fluency, comfort, comprehension, attention, and concentration while reducing light sensitivity. The colour-based technology filters out problematic light waves, so the brain can accurately process visual information.
Two-stage process:
Stage 1 - problem identification
Your first screening will determine whether you are suffering from Irlen Syndrome.
Stage 2 - colour choice
A second screening will determine the most appropriate lens and filter colours for you. Everyone is different. Colour is key to the success of the program and can only be determined after diagnostic assessment by a certified educational professional trained in the Irlen Method.
The second screening is only for individuals who show moderate to significant improvement with coloured overlays. In this session, we target the precise wave lengths of light causing your problems by using a limitless number of colour filter combinations. Your precision colour can be worn as glasses or contact lenses. A colour worn as glasses will not be the same as a plastic overlay colour. If your problems are related to number computation, copying, depth perception, light sensitivity, and headaches, coloured glasses are your best treatment option because they correct problems with the printed page and the environment.
Wearing the wrong colour can actually cause or worsen your problems. Testing to identify your correct coloured glasses can only be conducted by a Certified Irlen Screener.
